Quotes and other things from Meeting #1

Lindsey suggested tuna fish and peas (or edamame) in mac n' cheese. I'm not sure if that changes it into a casserole.

John informed me that mac n' cheese with stewed tomatoes is called "The Reagan" because that's how he liked his.

MB & Lindsey agreed that it initially needed salt.

Jen liked that it was made with real macaroni but it was a little spicy.

John & Vivian, "needs more cheese and bacon"

Joon, "enjoyed it but, disappointed it was not stewed tomatoes and the garlic flavor wasn't detected"

Lindsey, really liked hers, she ordered it with portabella mushrooms.

MB, "the arugula was delish"

Adam, "sun dried tomatoes were delicious but, portabellas were too big (chunked)", definitely different from Lindsey's mac, her portabellas were sliced.

Vivian, "overall disappointed"

Lacks consistency through the different styles.

Good cheese on top, bottom creamy but, no cheesy flavor.

"Hard to eat politely."

Adam, "points for making me feel full."

MB, "Adam ordering french fries on top of his mac n' cheese is just absurd."

MB, Adam, and Joon discussing lethargic full feeling...
"Start bringing cots."
"Mac n' cheese cots."

Vivian, "I need meat"

Kelly & Hillary (ordered sausage and sun dried tomatoes), "some of the better mac n' cheese we've had, thumbs up."

Adam, "Like: lack of burnt macaroni, dislike: not enough cheese on the bottom."

Meeting #1

Wednesday, 12/15/10

Misconduct Tavern was suggested by Maureen for their mac n' cheese.

I arrived by myself to Misconduct Tavern at around 6:40, no one greeted me until I sat at the bar squished between two couples. Shortly after two other members of the society showed up before I ended up ordering anything to drink. I had to stop the server to ask if we could be seated and that we expected 8-10 people. Luckily, I called ahead and they actually reserved a table for us.

We were seated at a large table area in the back. Slowly our group arrived, first there was a solid seven, then eight. Then, a little later joined by nine, ten, and eleven! I don't think the servers were to keen on our group growing larger than expected. We all ordered variations of the mac n' cheese (a couple regulars, roasted garlic & tomato, portabella mushroom, bacon, arugula, portabella mushroom & sun dried tomatoes, sausage & sun dried tomatoes).
We also ordered drinks which was a complaint from many that there was no price list anywhere (some unknowingly ordered $10 beers). We ordered around 7:15 and received our dishes around 7:50. Which for some of our group was too long of a wait. I understand, it's mac n' cheese.

The mac n' cheese was housemade fondue, baked mozzarella, and fontina topped with elbow macaroni. It was most certainly put in the broiler. The cheese melted on top had the tell tale signs. You can add in tons of stuff for different prices, the base price for regular mac n' cheese is $6.50, add ins start at .50 and go all the way up to $4.50.

I ordered regular ol' mac n' cheese, the first bite was cheesy and a little spicy. I still haven't identified the spice (maybe paprika?). Another society member agreed about the spice, it was kind of surprising. As the mac n' cheese eating continued I decided that I was not a fan of the mac n' cheese or maybe not creamy mac n' cheese. The more I ate, the more I realized how bland it was. The cheese on top was good but there wasn't enough cheese throughout the macaroni. I slowly started adding salt to my dish for more flavor until I was pretty full.
I wasn't a member of the clean plate club (I'm usually a member of the "can I get this wrapped up?" or the "does someone else want to eat this?" club). I left some macaroni and decided I was finished when I ate all the cheese from the top. Then, I was done.

Service:
The service here was just ok. The servers started out nice then, slowly got more and more rude. At one point, we were in the way taking pictures and I said "Oh, we are in the way, sorry" and the response "Yes, you are." They also tried to take the bill from use before we were ready.

Recommendations:
Mac n' cheese with arugula or portabella
They were definitely the best tasting otherwise, as MB said, "it was like 10 different people made the mac n' cheese."

Bill:
$188
Tons of expensive drinks!
Mac n' cheese is not listed on the receipt with your extras added in, just "mac n' cheese" with all different prices. You must remember how much your add ins cost. In a group it makes it difficult to discern what everyone bought.
